Oh how time changes things..

So.. hey, interwebs. How's it going? Definitely keeping things real over here.. I suppose.

Anywho, first important update: I got a job at Green Mill! I'll be a delivery driver. I'm pretty excited, I've been told by multiple people that I'll be making mad money because I'm female. Gender win! I think I'll be keeping my job at Office Depot for now. I could use the extra income.

Second important update: I'll be starting college in the fall. At least, that's the plan. I've been leaning towards the Web Design program at the Art Institutes International Minnesota, though I'm definitely nervous starting up college again. Le Cordon Bleu didn't exactly go very well..

Oh, I went to Valleyfair yesterday! It was pretty awesome, I had minimal sunburn. SPF 70 & 50 FTW! But there were some creepers.. I got my picture taken "without my noticing" by some punk kids on a park bench. It was insanely obvious. I saw the camera phone follow me, and I heard the very audible camera shutter noise. Jeez. And, later on, some guy in a tourist-ie straw hat walked past me, said "I saw your tattoo earlier and had to get another look," and walked back to his wife and kids. This would not have been a problem, had he not been staring at my gem tattoo. On my chest. Right between the girls. ::facepalm:: Though I received a few compliments on the tattoo on my back. ... After I was asked if it was a real tattoo. ::double facepalm:: On another note, there was this -really- cute guy I kept seeing around the park. He was tall, wearing a blue flannel shirt and grey beanie cap, had long, dark hair tied back at the base of his neck, kind of a scruffy look, and just the biggest, most adorable brown puppy eyes -ever-. I wish I could've had the chance to talk to him.. Or gotten his name.. or something. Anything. I have nothing to go by except how he looked that day. And it sucks. ::lament/angst/etc.::

Other than that, there's not a whole lot to say. I'm just taking time to myself, trying to figure out my life and what I want. I'll try to keep you updated a little more often, interwebs. But for now, good night.

I see through you
Now that I know the way you play
I don't want to"

Gotta love insomnia.

It seems I've been having trouble falling asleep this night/morn. So, as it appears I have neglected to mention a few things in the previous post, I might as well pick that up now, rather than when I come back from my tattoo appointment later today.

Apartment Update
Still living in Saint Paul. With the same people. And animals. That part hasn't changed. Moving on.

Vehicle Update
This part I'm pretty happy about. We finally managed to buy a reasonable vehicle that will last us a good amount of time. It's rather.. cute, too. A silver 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 Special Kona Edition. And.. it's a manual. 'Bout time I learned how to drive one those confounded things. Now if I could just find time to practice..

For the record, it wasn't my idea to be like my dad
and have my picture taken in front of my vehicle.
But it's a pretty nice shot, nonetheless.

Jonathan Update
He's been working at UnitedHealth Group for the past few months, and was recently put on full-time. It's pretty exciting watching his job unfold into a lifelong career. He definitely has the experience and personality for it, and then some.
This next month should be interesting, where he's involved. It's been.. hectic, to say the least.

Meows Update
Cheschire's all up-to-date on his stuffs, now we just have to get Freha done. Yes, two months later. Perch and rotate. Unfortunately, she's been going into heat, so she's been bugging the frick outta Cheschire {and anyone else that happens to catch sight of their.. shenanigans}. She'll be cured next Friday {20110114} so we'll all regain our sanity. At least, what little we can grasp.

Last but not least.. occasionally
There's me. Which.. not a whole lot has happened. I applied for a job that I know I would enjoy, but they said they weren't hiring, despite the fact that one of their usual crew put in her two weeks notice shortly before I applied. Maybe I should wait a little while longer. You never know. If not, well, my application will be on-file for a year. There's always a chance.
In the meantime, I can relish in the delight that I have found in the original Star Trek series. Spock is pretty much my favourite, with the best episode I've seen so far being "A Piece Of The Action." So much win, it blew my mind.
And I'm no longer attending Le Cordon Bleu. I haven't been since December, and I couldn't even if I wanted to continue. My loan never went through with the school, even though it was their responsibility to finish that last step and get it approved. Of course, I could have stormed their gates and attempted to obtain some sort of cooperation, but I had already lost interest in the school as a whole. I realized I don't want to work in a kitchen, despite my love of cooking and baking. I'd much rather be Graphic Designing. So, that's the next step after I get this debt figured out. I already know where I'm going, I just have to get this mess cleared up first. Wish me luck?

Other than that.. there's not much more I can say...

"We toss and turn but don't sleep
Each breath we take makes us thieves
Like causes without rebels
Just talk but promise nothing else"

Keepin' Life Legit

Hey guys! Sorry I've been so ... Not-around. Didja miss me?!
...
::cricket cricket::
...
Well anywho, I missed my internet and all the good things attached, so I think it deserves an update from me. Because it's just that awesome, and so has the new turns this life has and will be taking.

School update:
I just finished my Culinary Foundations II class on Thursday {2010-09-23}. I'm not sure if I'll be getting an "A" this term but y'know what? I gave it what I could and I expanded my memory as much as possible. I don't think I'll be too disappointed with my grade.
We had a "Treat Exchange" before our final, and there were many delicious goodies to be had. I made little cheesecake cupcakes topped with a caramel-chocolate-like-stuff which also coated the strawberry halves I put on top. I'm super happy they were a hit! My instructor even said they were good. Which makes the burns I got from the chocolate worth it. Otherwise, I might've had to smack some people around.. Haha, kidding! ... Kinda.

Animal Update:
The Cheschire Cat is now fixed and declawed. As a result, he's gotten lazier. But he still has fun chasing Mercedes and the laser pointer around the apartment. Next up: Freha. But that won't be until around November.

Apartment Update:
Only a few more days until we can move into our new apartment! I'm so incredibly excited, no question about that. More room, easier access to school, and NO MORE STUPID DRIVERS! ... Okay maybe not as much of the last one because those will always exist, but at least we won't have to deal with the college kids taking up all of our parking. And the non-cityfolk who don't know how to drive downtown on weekends. Seriously, they ruin my day.

Car Update:
Well, the Grand Am is officially gone. We junked it not long ago. Kinda broke my heart, especially because we're now down 2k, but it had to be done. There was so much we didn't know about it when we bought it, and it would've put our lives in danger had we kept it through winter. So now we're driving Jon's parents' van. Which, we've really come to appreciate. I mean, it has loads more space, and it'll really help during our moving process. And it has AC. Truly, you never realize how great AC is until you have to go without it. On a similar note, Jon and I have been oogling Mini Coopers. We've already planned out our cars, which you can view on his blog because we're typing on different computers. You know you wanna look. They're pretty great.

Jonathan Update:
He had a very big interview a few days ago with an amazingly huge corporation, and I know he made an excellent impression. I have complete faith in his abilities {especially since he's overqualified for the job which wasn't too much of a surprise to me but I was still nervous that they'd be looking for more than what he could give. But I'm happy he's everything they want and more!} and I'm hoping against hope that he'll get his foot in the door with this opportunity. He's always been a geek at heart and it makes me happy seeing his eyes light up whenever he discovers a new way to do something or how to create something to be more efficient. And I know this job would mean he'd have to go in to work during the day so I wouldn't see nearly as much of him as I do now, but I think it'll help us appreciate our time together a little more. And I won't have to be home alone now that we're going to have roomies, and he's a very sociable guy so I'm not worried about him making friends at work. Plus, I'm pretty excited to make his lunch for work every day! Like legit, I'm pretty stoked about it. And he said he'd like it, too, and it would keep expenses down on food as well. Besides, we're culinary students. We know how to whip up a good lunch. :)

Well internet, I think that's really about it. I don't have a whole lot more to say about my life at the moment, and I'm going to be busy moving in and starting new classes next week so I might not update for awhile {again}. So don't hold your breath waiting for me. But I promise I'll be back again in not-too-long. I have another tattoo to get and I can't keep you in the dark about it. :)

Oh, and Jon: There should never ever EVER be an apostrophe between the "r" and the "s" of "hers." IT'S NOT PROPER GRAMMAR! Plus, it doesn't exist. It could cause problems equivalent to dividing by zero.

A "Nothing" Saturday

Well, I'm incredibly happy to say that this week has been incredibly successful!

All of the tests I took for class I have passed {well, there was a written knife-cut test.. but thankfully we get two more tries at it. I still got a higher score than Jonathan and personally, that's all that matters. :D} so it makes me hopeful to see the score on the last test we took for College Success. But I mean really, it was all common sense, y'know? Don't cheat, utilize your resources, make sure you know who to go to for what, you have to become a cook before you can become a chef, etc. Overall, I.. well, -we-, are both doing really well in school and I can actually keep up with the friendly competition! Although we do have something of a little paper due on Wednesday, but it's not like this humongous essay with pages of double-spaced typing and pages of sources and such. Ha. I'm so happy culinary school is nothing like high school. Everything is so much more direct and to the point. I don't have to add fluff to my papers anymore! :D

Then yesterday, we hung out and shopped at the Mall of America with Rusty, Michelle, and their friend Jake {I think I got that right.. correct me if I'm wrong guys!} and saw The Sorcerer's Apprentice. It was pretty decent, but I think I was expecting more out of a movie based off of Fantasia. I mean, the end battle definitely could've had more swooooosh to it instead of pewpewpewpewpew, but overall it wasn't bad.

And now, the very best part. A WHOLE SATURDAY OF NOTHING! I'm stoked! We -never-ever-ever-EVER-NO-WAY-NO-HOW-FAT-CHANCE-LARRY-MOE-CURLY have a free Saturday, much less a free weekend, or really, free anything. It'll be nice to do things at our own luxury today.

Well, I suppose that's really all that's gone on lately. Besides disturbing new Saturday morning cartoons. I mean really, they just don't make them like they used to. Though one was about this girl who creates fiends so it made me think of a cross between FFX-2 and Adventure Time. ... OHMIGOODGOLLYGREASHUSSSSS I CAN ACTUALLY PLAY VIDEO GAMES TODAY! TREASURE MOUNTAIN HERE I COME!!!

{Kudos to any of you that know that game, it'll always be legendary!}

Week II of Culinary School + Life Update

Since Jonathan made a blog, I figured I might as well, too. It'll be a good way to document my progress with my education and allow anyone who is curious to have insight as to what is going on in the life of Angie.

To get to the first part of the title, I'll begin by saying that I'm currently halfway through my second week of my culinary education at Le Cordon Bleu in Mendota Heights {It's advertised as a Minneapolis/St. Paul school, but technically MH is where it's truly located.} Initially I'm enrolled in the Culinary Program, but around August/September, I'm switching over to the Patisserie & Baking Program, and honestly, I'm pretty stoked about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm having fun with my class, and could not have been luckier to find a few other younger people with whom to connect, but I'm absolutely indescribably impatient to receive my P&B tool kit. AND I don't even have to pay for the new kit because all the tools I use in the one I have now will just be switched out.

In similar news, a little bit about about the class. Our instructor is essentially THE coolest chef I've ever met, and all the chef instructors are pretty neat as it is. The students are easy to be around, even though Jonathan and I are the youngest ones in our class. The next oldest would probably be at least 23-24. Some of them are old enough to be my parents, grandparents even. And I was really surprised to learn how many people in the military are enrolled there, as well. Two of them, Michelle and Rusty, are the ones to whom Jonathan and I talk most often, and they're really quite a lot of fun. They've already done deployments as well, and they're not much older than I. ... Okay, I take that back. Rusty is almost 10 years my senior. YOU ARE OLD, SIR. And you look like Seth Green. It's true and he knows it. I'll get a picture one of these days.

But anywho.. Out of respect for them, the lovely ladies I knew in boot camp, and any other military personnel that happens to wander across this blog, thank you for sacrificing so much for all us, civilians and brothers/sisters-in-arms alike.

Is it just me, or do I sound like an old fogey with how I type? Maybe it's just me.

But now for the life update. ... Which there really isn't much! Except for the fact that I'm awake at ridiculous hours these days. And that I have something similar to a buzz cut. Oh yes, yes I do. I know what a lot of you are thinking; "OH NOES! ANGIE DOES NOT HAS HAIR! WOE IS ME!" Yea well stuff it. It's easier to maintain.. but I don't think I'll ever do that again. I've been told I look like a lesbian. WHICH IS NOT A BAD THING but it's certainly not the message I would like to convey to the general public.

Well, I think I'll go bug Jonathan to get his arse up. We have stuff we gotta get done today and there's NO SLACKING ALLOWED! No sir-ree-bob. Not even at 0700.

Toodle-oo!
